I thought that today instead of reviewing a product, I would bring you an informative article about vegan leather – something which might intrigue you. I was certainly interested to know more about vegan leather… More
Those of you who have been regularly reading my blog for a while now will know how much I love me a blinding highlighter and that a lot of them I have reviewed have been rainbow ones. This little beauty was released by Makeup Revolution last week and is an incredible £4! Before I say anything else, I have to put it out there that this is an incredibly high quality and pigmented highlighter, especially for the price.
Let’s start with the packaging – it comes in a compact, plastic case with a border of holo (don’t shoot me if this is not holo – trust me, I struggle to know the difference between all the special rainbow effects!).
There are five highlight colours inside this palette – you can wear each colour individually, swirl your brush and grab each colour or paint an actual rainbow on your cheekbones. When I was experimenting, I found that when you swirl your brush across all the colours, the overall effect is a predominantly blue colour.
As I mentioned previously, the colours in this palette are extremely pigmented and easy to work with. I couldn’t believe the shine achieved just from swatching the product very lightly onto the back of my hand.
Today, I used the pink colour on the tops of my cheekbones, nose and Cupid’s bow. It has such a pretty effect and went smoothly onto my skin. It didn’t gather or look chalky. It just left a gorgeous glow. I’m in love!
I treated myself to a mini Makeup Revolution haul this week and have so many beautiful and exciting products to share with you! First up are these stunning gradient highlighters.
One thing I will say is, I am unsure as to why they are sold as ‘highlighters’, they are definitely more appropriately used as blushers. You could possibly dip your brush into the very lightest shade on the far left and use that as a subtle highlighter, but these are predominantly a blush.
I swatched the product with three fingers and just took some product from each third of the palette, as shown in the photo above. I mixed all of the gradient together on my brush to create the blush I am wearing in the photo below.
Sunlight Mood Lights is definitely my favourite of the three palettes. I love a peachy toned Blush as I wear a lot of peachy browns on my eyes and they compliment each other perfectly.
The lighter shade in the product isn’t the most pigmented, but is easily buildable. The darker the colour gets, the more pigmented it becomes. To be honest, I like my blushers to be buildable as I like to avoid the clown look!

Welcome to Part 5 of my 10k training journey! This one is jam packed with positive vibes, good food and fun run photos!
I’m still following the 5k to 10k training programme, but have also been doing some free runs on days where my body is tired or I don’t have much time. I’ve found some nice areas to run in where I live, so have been mixing up my route a bit.
This week saw a complete overhaul in my diet. I was letting naughty, little snacks enter my body daily and I wasn’t feeling very good about myself. Of course, I still allow myself treats – just not as many as I was having! As mentioned in my last post, I have started a new Instagram account completely dedicated to my fitness, food and training. You can find it at @kerrys.fitness.journey
Here are some photos of the food I have been enjoying this week.
As part of my journey, I have also been working on my confidence, especially that to do with my body. I’ve never liked how I look or how my body is shaped, but now I’m at the grand old age of 30, I realise it’s about time I stop wasting time worrying about it and start doing something about it! My body is slowly changing with all the running and healthy eating and this alone gives me a massive boost. Running releases all those happy hormones and endorphins and the feeling is addictive. I also treated myself to a new pair of jeans, which I’m obsessed with!
Here’s for another exciting bit – Mum and I took part in Colour5k yesterday! It was such a brilliant afternoon and I loved crossing the finish line with Mum. Getting a medal was also a lovely bonus! I think I may have Mum hooked on taking part in these events now, so hopefully there will be lots more to come!
What an amazing week! I’m feeling extra positive about the week ahead. Have a good one!
If you’d like to sponsor me for the Run Norwich 10k – which is in less than 30 days! – then please click here.

I received the Non-Alcoholic WowBox and here’s what I got inside –
With the 10k less than 5 weeks away, I have to be honest and say that I’m feeling more than a little bit anxious. In fact, I’m in full on panic mode. Yes, I’m running for longer, further and faster than I ever have before but I’m still slower than every other runner I know, I still almost die when I run over 5k and I still have a full on tantrum when it gets too hot. Help me!
I also feel that 10k is viewed on by some people as a not decent enough distance. But what I want to stress (to those of you who do think that) is that it is A BIG DEAL TO ME. I have my own personal barriers that I fight each and every time I go out for training – confidence and a fear of people laughing at me, terrified that I’ll be attacked and scarred by a dog again, stressed that I’ll be slower than last time, guilt over leaving my baby and husband for 50 minutes and many more. No, I’m not looking for sympathy, just a bit of understanding. I’m also not saying that if you don’t sponsor me you’re not supportive. Just some words of encouragement would be nice, instead of denying all knowledge of me doing this and saying nothing – which to my amazement a lot of people are doing!
Anyway, enough of the moody stuff. I have had to think about extending my running courses now as I have to run for longer periods of time. My husband took me to Eaton Park, Norwich the other weekend and it was lovely. It was nice to run amongst the greenery and also a lot of other runners.
Next weekend is the Norwich Colour 5k! I’m so bloody excited and even more excited to be running it with my mum. We’ve both been training hard and really want to enjoy this one. Plus I get a medal.
In other news, I have set up an Instagram account to help motivate me in my fitness and weight loss. If you’d like to take a follow it’s called @kerrys.fitness.journey
Physicians Formula has been doing the rounds a lot recently on social media and YouTube, especially this Butter Bronzer. Physicians Formula isn’t available in the UK, so I had to order this through iHerb – an amazing site which sells many makeup brands, including those not available here. I have heard only good things about this product – it blends well, looks glowy and smells amazing. I just couldn’t wait to give it a go for myself!
First up, let’s start with the packaging. The bronzer came in a foil effect box, with tropical foliage printed on it. The colours are stand out and fit so well with the theme of the product.
Inside you get 11g of bronzer, another compartment which lifts to reveal a mirror, and a cute applicator sponge. To be honest, I won’t use the applicator, as I prefer using a brush, but it’s definitely handy to have inside for travel.
As well as looking aesthetically pleasing, the bronzer also provides many benefits for the skin. It contains Murumuru Butter, Cupuacu Butter and Tucuma Butter from the Amazon in Brazil – which I believe gives it its beautiful scent (correct me if I’m wrong!). It also contains ultra-refined pearls and soft-focus pigments that are said to smooth your skin’s texture and brighten your skin tone.
I have been using the bronzer for the last couple of days now and I have to say that I already adore it. It leaves such a beautiful finish and really does make my skin look airbrushed. It blends very well and is so creamy to apply. It’s quickly becoming my favourite part of my makeup routine! The scent is absolutely beautiful – it just smells like ‘holiday’ to me – sun cream, coconuts and many things tropical.
I could bang on about this product all day and all the benefits it as for your skin. I’ll tell you just a few more facts anyway, as I really can’t help myself!
- It also contains fatty acids and pro-vitamins to nourish your skin.
- It can be worn over makeup or alone on the skin – imagine that glow!
- It combines the benefits of both cream and powders bronzers, meaning application is effortless
- It’s Cruelty Free
- It’s simply amazing!
Bio Extracts were one of the first companies to back my blog in its early stages and send me an amazing PR package. Since then, they have continued to support me and even sent me a lovely Easter card this year! You can read my original review here – Bio Extracts @Home Lab. I was so excited when I was contacted by them asking me to try out their new range of eye products. This is the new Advanced Eye Contour Collection. This collection works on the same premise as the already released range, in that you get a beautifully rich lamellar system cream and some boosters.
The innovative idea behind Bio Extract skin products, is the personalisation of your skin care routine. If you’re suffering from a particular skin issue one morning or evening, you can adjust your products to your needs.
Bio Extracts are a vegan brand, that use the latest biotechnology to harness powerful plant extracts which are amazing for your skin. The eye cream itself is formulated with the Bio Extracts unique Multi-Lamellar System which has a structural similarity to your skin’s own natural layers. When it is applied to the skin, it mimics these layers acting like a hydrating patch – enhancing its barrier function, leaving it feeling instantly refreshed and hydrated.
Here’s the extra exciting part – the boosters! I absolutely love these and to be totally honest, so does my husband. It’s so nice to be able to check out your skin in the morning and personalise your skin care to it. It’s the same with the eye boosters. You can purchase the Lift and Firm Boost or the Brightening Boost. I use the Lift and Firm at night and the Brightening one in the morning.
You can also combine your eye cream with both boosters, if you’re feeling the need for super optimum results around the eyes (perfect after a heavy night!).
I have found the cream and boosters to also be an amazing base to my makeup. I have experienced little to no creasing around my eyes where my concealer usually sits. The makeup sits still and looks very smooth too.
Welcome to a new blog series – Hidden Gems of Norwich! Here I will be telling you all about some of my favourite independent establishments in Norwich, Norfolk and where to find them. I’m starting with a recent discovery – Beautifully Gifted.

The layout of the shop is thoughtfully and carefully positioned to showcase all of the beautiful items from a large variety of brands and designers. As you browse the shop, you will come across gifts from many designers and sellers, some of whom you may have never heard of before.

Being the mother of a baby myself, I was particularly drawn to the baby gifts. I absolutely adore Rufus Rabbit (and so does Baby J!) so was excited to see that they had some of the toys and accessories in store.
There were other baby gifts, which were made to such a high standard and of beautifully soft materials, that I wanted to go back in time to when my baby was teeny tiny so I could give them to her. You won’t be at a loss if youre looking for the perfect gift for a baby shower. You’ll also be able to pick up something for the mother-to-be whilst you’re there!

Hello my lovelies!
In this series, I will be sharing with you the gorgeous goodies from my Glossybox subscription boxes, with my honest opinion of the products received. If you want to know what Glossybox is all about, you can read my last unboxing post here.
So what’s in the box?
This month doesn’t really have a “theme” per se, however it does seem to be more focused on the idea of “summer laid-back” vibes that come with the season. Less is more in Summer, I mean who wants to put on foundation, concealer and powder when its 30 degrees out? So there’s a big focus on nailing down a great skin care regime which as we all know is the base to feeling your best in the summer. We have a great box this month with 6 products to try out, including two full-sized.
So let’s have a look shall we?
This is a fabulous gel moisturizer for all my oily gals out there who are a little shy on the traditional moisturiser creams. The Hero Project is a British beauty brand which focuses its attention on those must have skin care products you can’t go without, which delivers both an amazing moisturiser and is packed with skin loving ingredients such as hylauronic acid and B5. This is best to add to the skin before your normal moisturiser to bring it back to life, which is especially good in the summer months where air conditioning and the warmer weather can dry out your skin. The Hero Project is also cruelty free, and its packaging is all recyclable – woohoo!
Hhmmm.. Ok, I love highlight, y’all know that. Highlighter for me is my ultimate beauty must have and nothing makes me feel better than highlighting my cheekbones like a glazed donut. This however, isn’t glowy enough for me. It’s best mixed into your foundation for a dewy finish or to use as “glue” to keep your highlight popping, however on its own, not a fan. Its far too liquid for me and just disappears when your apply to the skin, so its more of an addition to my highlight routine than an actual highlight or glow in itself. It does get bonus points for being cruelty free and comes in one universal shade for all skin types.
So I got my hair cut last week and have been regretting it ever since – nothing to do with the hairdresser, she was the bomb, I just forgot how much more maintenance your hair needs when its cut short, and my hair is super fine and there is a lot of it, so it frizzes up like nobody’s business. This hair spray was a welcome treat for me, as it helps to keep the frizz at bay and helps keep my style resistant to humidity and it’s enriched with keratin which is always a good thing for my hair type! Batiste prides itself on being a cruelty–free personal brand that cares about the well-being of both humans and animals. Batiste Stylist is not suitable for Vegans as it uses Keratin, which is derived from sheep’s wool. No! Batiste doesn’t support testing on animals.
111Skin Space Defense Bright Eye lift Gel
This is one of the best eye products I have ever used. I have HUGE dark circles under my eyes regardless of the sleep I get, to the point I have considered getting fillers under my eyes. I have this in a full size from a christmas gift and I love it, it changed my life. It reduces puffiness, dark circles, reduces the appearance of lines (which at 30 I am starting to think about) and keeps your eye area super hydrated. Plus this skin care range evolved from products used in space, and I am all about that.
Ugh this lip colour is so darn perfect. It’s a gorgeous coral colour and glides on smoothly, is super pigmented and has super staying power. It wasnt until I put it on and my lips started to tingle I realised it was a lip plumping crayon – I thought I was having some sort of allergic reaction! But I love the effect of these lip plumping products – I have a slimmer top lip so its nice to balance it out a bit! Sleek are a brand I adore, and are cruelty free which I love. #crueltyfreekisses.
I have been wanting to try one of these peel off charcoal masks forever! This was the first product in this month’s box that I tried, and it was…..ok. I mean, don’t get me wrong as soon as I put it on, you could feel the active charcoal working and it was super satisfying peeling it off, but it didn’t seem to pull as much out of my face as I wanted. If anything it pulled off all my peach fuzz (not a bad thing) and my skin on the whole felt super smooth, but I can still see all my blackheads. Maybe that’s how they get you? Really loved it and I love a face mask, but it wasnt quite as good as I wanted. A big thumbs up for being cruelty free though!
So all in all, this month’s box was ok. It wasnt overwhelming, but there’s nothing in here I wouldn’t use. Everything in this box is once again cruelty free which I love, but I would have liked more make up products. However great skin care is the base for great skin confidence so all of these products are welcome in my bathroom.
So that’s it from me for another box with Glossybox! If you are looking for a great gift, why not give the gift of Glossy? You can gift a 1,3,6, or 12 month subscription, or maybe just treat yourself?
If you want to try out Glossybox for yourself, head over to the website www.glossybox.co.uk and sign up for 50% off the July Edit. There’s no minimum commitment, and you can cancel at any time. Besides, who doesn’t love a little treat every month?
Until next time, have a great summer!
Thank you so much for joining me again on my 10k journey. The last couple of weeks have seen a couple of mini milestones. Firstly, I reached my charity place sponsorship target! I’m now over the £100 that I needed to raise. If you sponsored me – thank you from the bottom of my heart. I think about your support and kindness when I’m out training and it really does spur me on.
My second piece of news is that I’ve begun my 5k to 10k training program. It’s really bloody scary and hard work sometimes, but I can’t believe the leap I’ve made in my fitness levels. Just two months ago, I couldn’t do the 30 seconds of running intervals in the early stages of the 5k training without feeling exhausted. I’m now running solidly for 40 minutes! The one thing I have to contend with now though, is the heat…
It really hit me yesterday, whilst I was out, that this 10k is going to be HOT. It’s in August, in the middle of the city and there will be a lot of other bodies around me. I’ll be honest when I say that this has freaked me out slightly. I’m hoping we get a cool day on race day, but I seriously doubt that will happen.
I thought I’d also share a recipe for good runner fuel that I’ve been loving this week. I call it a recipe, but really I just dump all of these items onto my plate –
- A baked sweet potato
- Chickpeas roasted in chilli powder
- Poached eggs
- Rocket salad
- Sundried ttomatoes
- Sour cream
- Green Pesto
Overall, it has been a good couple of weeks. I’ve had to step it up a gear and really challenge myself, but this is what’s needed. I’m still loving it!
Even though I’ve reached my target, your sponsorship is still needed. If you’d like to sponsor me and read my story, visit my Just Giving page here.
